Back in the early '50s there were reports of aliens from underground facilities in Iron Canyon (in the El Paso Mountains northeast of Mojave) who ran possibly dangerous machines on the surface at night. I would be interested in any links to stories and folklore related to that region. Thanks in advance for any leads you can share.

Wanderland Review and Thanks

Wanderland was a good time. The spot was the same as last years IG Thanksgiving.

This year sound was setup in a surround sound formation. I've heard about this before but never experienced it. I think I might prefer the wall of sound a bit more. But I'm not sure yet. Besides my silly opinion of placement, AU sound was pumping hard and sounding clear.

The DJ was setup in the back of a moving van with visuals being back projected on a sheet behind him/her. I thought this worked really well not to mention the visuals were pretty cool. I especially like the video on the Russian and U.S. space program. Moreover, the truck seemed to make a nice wind break for the DJs.

I think this year might of been a tad warmer then last year. I'm not sure. But it was still cold. I had a bit more clothes. Like last year, more people showed up unprepared. I think one guy only had a smoking jacket. There was probably another guy with him who was also not prepared.

I think the blend of DJs were very eclectic. I was expecting to hear too many breaks. But me and Mark Zabala were the only ones to play breaks that I heard. Plus half of his set wasn't breaks and mine was a mixture of breaks and other break influenced beats. The Rootabreaka DJs didn't even show up. So that was it for breaks if I remember right. I happen to love parties where the music is all mixed up.

There was also quite a bit of Jungle. N8 was playing Jungle when I showed up. I also shared my set with a friend that played some Jungle. His name is Blue9 He actually has a few records out. House music was also represented by Danielle and another DJ in the morning. I was in my tent when Danielle played but I remember hearing and enjoying it. The DJ in the morning also did a good job of playing. It was a nice funky morning set to get the polyster in your pants warmed up.

I think my favorite set of the night had to be Mark Zabala. He played some great songs and did really good technically.

The vibe at this one seemed a bit more then last years IG TG. I actually hung out with people more and was able to socialize a bit more. Maybe it is because I know people a bit more. I'm not sure. Overall, I had a really good time.

I would like to thank Orence, Angie, Rakai, N8, Stella, Phil and whoever else helped that I don't know about. I had a really good time at the party. Thanks for letting me play. You guys seem to always be doing the right things for the right reason.

Ahh Peru Peru

So I want to go to Peru to study with shamans and become apprenticed and I will get credit from my college via a photo journal. This is in reference to my larger project: a documentary film. My major is Humanities with emphasis in Art and Social Change. I love this college! (http://www.newcollege.edu)

Ans so I found this great group called Blue Morpho. (http://www.bluemorphotours.com) They offer authentic experiences for people who want to do their work and become apprenticed.

We will be interacting and learning from the plant medicine Ayuhuasca.

I want to learn the following three things from the spirit Ayuhuasca.

To have direct experience/knowledge of past life regression in that I will have proof or disproof for reincarnation theory.

To learn how to hold this reality and juggle others i.e. dream states.

Become an apprenticed shaman in that I may do my work here and help people in this country. Upon completion I have also been invited to do my work with the Santo Daime Church.

To do this I need 700 more dollars for the plane ticket. The total cost is over $1000 of which I have paid. Now I just have to get the plane ticket. I have this money and it is not accessible to me yet. What do I mean by this? I am in the IATSE union local 16 (stage hand union). It’s great! I make a lot of money and I love what I do. The drag is that I get paid sometimes a month after I’ve finished work on a particular show. Show biz payroll- Blah! So I did a bunch of shows the first week of June, which is more than $700 coming in the mail. It hasn’t come yet and I suspect I won’t get the checks before the 19th of June. However, I will have that money when I get back which is July 2nd. I’m going to be in Iquitos, Peru from June 19th to July 2nd. When I get back the checks will be here and I’ll go deposit them and give the patron a personal or certified check or cash. Now to just find a patron

there's something happening out in the forest at the end of this month, a
celebration of earth, life, music, and art, and everything that entails:
variable high winds, overnight lows, love, dance, blacklights and really loud
music. every summer we make a long weekend visit to Big Bear, (i think this is
our 6th year...), we do a group volunteer activity saturday morning in
cooperation with the San
Bernardino National Forest, then retire to a big beautiful campground, lay
around most of the afternoon enjoying the weather and the trees and some good
food, then ease our way into an evening/night/morning/afternoon of dancing.

here's the plot:

saturday morning
9am-2pm - volunteer activity "light cleaning" with Linda S. (big bear,
S.B.N.F.). light cleaning probably translates as picking up spent shells and
other shooting trash at some messed-up forest spot.

saturday afternoon
2-6pm - laying around, bullshitting, troublemaking
Larry S. (riverside grill works) - coordinating the BBQ and laying around

saturday thru sunday, music appreciation with DJ's:
6-9pm Too Many Christians (world-traveler, ambassador-at-large, Sierra Madre,
CA)
9-11pm Dj Feather (what happens at blue sky, stays at blue sky, Las Vegas, NV)
11-1am Johnny Feelfree (did you say blue sky *vodka*? L.A., CA)
1-4am Bohdi 13:20 (San Diego, CA)

i would describe the music as covering the gamut from easy listening to dark

weather - big bear is cold a lot of the time... during the summer it will get
pretty warm during the day, and then really cold at night. plan accordingly.

there will be portapotties for your peeing and pooping pleasure, provided by
stormin' norman

there will be mighty sound, provided by the fine people of alien underground.

there will be no trash left at the campsite, provided by you and your
conscientious friends. we came to big bear to do a volunteer *clean-up*,

play safe, the nearest hospital is far away over wind-y bumpy dirt roads.

Hiya!
Semester just ended! I just completed the best show of life. I choreographed 3 dance pieces as I was in 10 others. I even got naked on stage. Woohoo. I finished my thesis papers too, all 5 of them argh! It was tough but I made it through. Yay! Summer begins!
I miss all of you!
What is new? What is everyone up to?
Who's going to Burning Man and what camp are you in?
And who the heck is coming to SF to visit me?
I'm touring the midwest and then going to Peru to study with Shamans and making a video documentary. Then coming back making more money and then going Texas, Chicago, and finally LA. Then it's off to Burning Man. I'm undecided which camp I'll in. Been spinning at some crazy parties up here. SF is pretty focused on house though. Having the time of my life up here. I miss LA though. Much warmer there. lol!

Not going to Burning Man this year ...

Fond as I am of Burning Man -- especially the "community out of nothing" and "opportunity to go dancing any hour of the day or night" and "suddenly all my friends live within biking distance" aspects -- this seems to be a year for consolidating and gathering my energies, rather than spending and spreading them.

So I've decided to skip Burning Man this year. The sense of great relief, as I realized I don't have to obsess about gear and costumes and my body image for several months before, and then deal with cleaning it all off and putting it away after, makes it clear this is the right decision for me right now.

I feel sure I'll be on the Playa again some day. Just not this year. Please. God/dess. Not this year.

But you kids have fun, and think of me.

i hope everyong is well.
i m doing very good haveing a lot of fun.
playing music 6-8 hours a day. i finally hooked up with the local party kids. i may other alien family.
i working on playing in some bigger clubs here.
my club is very slow, a lot of older people. they freek when i play PSY but love it when i play the 55 min chill set ( thanx Orence ) you saved my ass. i m working on my hip hop skills and i fell inlove with a Russian Girl- go figure..

anyway i miss you all.

ok.. Bava called me again this weekend and told me there is yet another douoble booking. this time his own doing.

i've began talking with some local cats about another space and it looks like we MAY be able to do the wednesday gig there.

incase it doesn't come off, i'd love to hear any ideas of other places that might be receptive to a "one off, kooky crowded, alcohol friendly, good vibed, dance music friendly, easy to get to, stranger safe" environment.

doesn't sound tough to me, sounds like friends...

i'm trying to post this, and i try and try and try.. and when i hit NEXT ... it clears all the boxes out and starts over. arghhh!!!!

I’m pretty damn excited about the fact that this syncopated is going to be as much of a coming together of old school desert rats as it is! Erik, Beau and Phild0g. With the one year anniversary right after the elections, we want to change up the syncopated format and offer something even more special. Afterall, the whole point of this event has always been about inspiring and supporting our community. This weekend at Decom, we had such a great time (heartfelt thanks out to so many of you who came out and always do!) it reminded me of when we started throwing. About how it was a great chance for everyone to gather together and commiserate on whatever was on our minds. And believe that we’re up to something new, that we can and are changing things by being ourselves and sticking to it. And that we can accomplish whatever we want as long as we believe we’re about to accomplish it.
